Deep Clean or Standard Clean: Which One Do You Actually Need?

Jul 14, 2026 4 min

Almost every call we take starts with the same uncertainty: is this a regular clean or a deep clean? It matters, because the two are genuinely different jobs and they are priced that way. The good news is that the answer is usually obvious once you know what separates them.

A standard clean maintains a house that is already in reasonable shape. Surfaces, floors, kitchen, bathrooms, dusting, and everything back where it belongs. It assumes somebody — you, or us on a previous visit — got the house to a baseline, and it keeps it there. That is the right service on a recurring schedule: weekly, every other week, monthly.

A deep clean resets that baseline. It goes after the things a maintenance clean deliberately skips because they do not need doing every fortnight: inside the oven and the refrigerator, behind and underneath appliances, baseboards, door frames, light fixtures, vents, window tracks, tile grout, the soap and hard-water build-up that has quietly accumulated in a shower over a year.

The practical test is time since the last thorough clean. If it has been more than six months, or if you have never had the house professionally cleaned, start with a deep clean and then move to a recurring standard clean. Trying to do it the other way round means the first few maintenance visits spend their whole allotted time on backlog and the house never quite gets there.

There are also situations where a deep clean is not optional. Moving out of a rental, where the standard is whatever the landlord decides. Moving into a place somebody else lived in. Finishing a remodel, where fine construction dust has settled into every horizontal surface in the house. Getting a property market-ready before photographs.

If you are not sure which one your place needs, describe it to us honestly — including the parts you would rather not mention. It changes the quote, not our opinion of you. Call or text (501) 772-5064.
