The most common mistake on a build or a remodel is treating the final clean as a single line item at the end. It is not one job, and a crew that shows up once will leave a site that looks clean on the day and dusty a week later.
The reason is drywall dust. It is far finer than household dust, it stays airborne for hours after any disturbance, and it settles onto every horizontal surface in the building — including the tops of door frames, light fixtures, ductwork and the ledges nobody looks at. Clean a room once and the dust still suspended in the air comes down onto what you just wiped.
So the work runs in passes. A rough clean once the heavy debris is out: gross material removed, floors cleared, the site made workable for the trades still finishing. A second pass after the last dusty trade leaves, which is where the real detail happens — inside cabinets and closets, window tracks, fixtures, vents, and every surface wiped rather than dusted. Then a final touch-up immediately before handover or photography, catching what settled overnight and any marks the last few days of traffic left behind.
There is usually debris to deal with alongside it — drywall offcuts, lumber, flooring and carpet, leftover building materials, packaging. Having the same team haul that out and clean behind it removes a coordination step at the exact point in a project where the schedule is tightest.
